New media is a term meant to encompass the emergence of digital, computerized, or networked information and communication technologies in the later part of the 20th century. Most technologies described as "new media" are digital, often having characteristics of being manipulable, networkable, dense or compressible. |

In spite of the worst recession since the 30's, new media continues on a growth path. Consider that Holiday spending online GREW 19% in 2008, while many retailers struggled to keep the doors open. A recent consumer survey reported that the number of people who regularly download an electronic book or e-book to an e-book reader could reach around 16 million adults in the next few years. The eight candidates vying to be the Republican nominee for president in the 2008 elections answered questions submitted by CNN and YouTube users in a debate last year. |
